My controller (as well as keyboard and mouse) is connected to the monitor which in turn connects them to the PC with a USB passthrough cable. I am guessing that Far Cry only recognises controllers directly physically connected to the PC, and not those indirectly connected through other units. Fingers crossed for a patch/fix.

Go to steam main interface , click view, then settings, controller settings, and xbox or ps4 or whatever. Should work like a charm. One final thing if you don't want to use Big Picture interface in game for your Steam Overlay you need to go to your Steam settings In-Game tab, and uncheck Use the Big Picture Overlay when using a Steam Input enabled controller from the desktop. This game feels as if a controller was intended. Edit: After ditching my 360 controller and using my PS4 controller (which works great), I made some tweeks with my KB and mouse setting. KB and mouse is the way to go once you get used to it in this game, way better precision/control.
You can load the PC-XBoxPad profile by opening Far Cry’s Profiles page. If all the new settings haven’t been applied yet, restart Far Cry. Check if the command “cl_use_joypad” is set to 1 in the console. Set it to 1 if it is not.
I just fixed this. open steam. find farcry5 in your library. go to the properites. on the first tab is a "per game controller option" setting. set this to "forced on". I was then able o use my wired xbox controller on my chromebook. 0. Daniele Menon. 3y. 0. I write the solution if anyone with the same problem ends up here. 7. Start up Far Cry 5. 8. Enjoy Far Cry 5 from your couch! Have fun friend. Thanks for that. I saw that fix on another thread and tried that but unfortunately for me that only fixes the D-Pad issue, not the above mentioned. When I do this the controller stops working altogether.

The instructions on this link worked to fix the issue with the D-Pad and the braking/reverse for me. First verified game cache>. Connect you controller>. Then open big picture>. Click far cry 5>. Manage game>. Controller options>. Use steam configuration for non-steam Controllers>. Select (forced off) click ok>.
I use an xbox 360 wireless controller and for whatever reason the d-pad and left trigger when driving do not input. Anyone else having this problem?
I'm not sure if this will work for Steam controllers but I was having the same problem with my PS4 controller emulating as an Xbox controller. Just go into Big Picture, Far Cry 5, Manage Game, Controller Options, Use Steam Configuration for Non-Steam Controllers - Forced Off. That fixed dpad and reversing for me. QBV9B.
