I have been writing BLU-RAY wrong for about 15 years. Dolby Vision is a thing. The TV that I love doesn't have it, so I personally don't need it. Panasonic DP-UB820 is loved by all of you. It seems like a great little beast that doesn't need a receiver for audio. You can just connect your 7.1 speakers etc to it.
The video that all streaming services provide is much more compressed than what's delivered on a 4K Blu-ray. The HDR is one of the biggest difference, but also the amount of data on a 4K disc is greater than a Blu-ray Disc regardless of it being upscaled for not. Besides a few weird situations with messed up DNR like Terminator 2, a large majority of 4k discs that are upscaled rather than native will still look better than the blu-ray.
